TAROT 2000 Release 2.01
Copyright 1992-1993 Stéphane GIGANDET
All rights reserved
You need at least: EGA 128Kb (2 640x350x16c) + MOUSE + MOUSE DRIVER
SoundBlaster Music if SBFMDRV driver is loaded. (supplied with SB cards)
This is an sixteen years old french (Sorry for mistakes, and hope you will
understand me) programmer game. U can now play Tarot ( Is this the english
word too ? ) with your computer. You don't need to be three to play anymore !
And when your PC become bored of playing with such a lowspeed cpu as you, he
can even play lonely vs himself, with up to five players !
This is a great game (As for me), surely the best tarot game ever made. (And
the only one I know too.) It should work with every EGA PC, even 8086s. It has
been tested on several computers, from XT to 486 (I've got some lucky friends!).
Graphics are in high resolution and look terrific. (I made them)
This game is a SHAREWARE, IT IS NOT FREE!!! If you enjoy it and want to
continue to use it, please register. See REGISTER.DOC for infos. Don't forget
this game took many hours to program.
After registering, I'll send you your personal password, and instructions to
turn your unregistered version into a registered one. It is very easy and fast,
and you need to do this only once. You will then be able to look at the scores,
save and load players and their scores. It 'll be also possible to keep without
and versus. (Above 'Petite' and 'Garde')
You're free to copy this game to everyone, BBS, associations, companies....
But please, copy it in his integrity, with REGISTER.DOC and this file.
Shareware distributors can also distribute this game, but please, write it to
me!!! And send me a copy of your catalogue please!
Modification and reverse engineering are not allowed.
What's new ?
Release 1.00 - First release of Tarot 2000. Don't worry about icones, 50%
aren't used yet.
Release 1.01 - Fixed some minor errors in computer's play.
Computer begins to play well. Gotta find rules to finalize the
game.
Release 1.02 - Added Help screens. Still expecting up to date rules.
Release 1.10 - Corrected a bug that appears on fast 386s and 486s which was due
to mouse problems. Haven't found official rules yet. By the way,
any information on how to use Adlib or Sound Blaster cards with
Turbo Pascal would be greatly appreciated. The one who will send
me any useful information will earn all my gratitude and will get
his name in the ' special thanks '
Release 1.11 - Considering that I don't own a 486, above bug wasn't fixed
correctly, I hope that it is now.
- I was given a Tarot game for my birthday, ( Now I'm seventeen ),
and rules were included. Seems that they have changed since I
learnt to play. Don't know which rules 'll be implemented.
- It isn't any longer always the same person who play first.
- I've got another important request, seek desperately a recent
Release of SVGA256.BGI or equivalent.
Release 1.12 - This release is the first official release of TAROT 2000.
I have included a little message at the begining of the game, and
a delay too, to be sure that everyone read it.
Release 1.13 - I've reconsidered the delay question, and decided to get rid of it.
I'm sure everyone will be pleased to learn that!
- Computer can't play the called king color at first any longer.
- Computer is getting clever and clever!
- I've fixed some bugs.
Release 1.14 - The excuse isn't considered as the 22nd atout anymore.
- I've changed the game evaluation method. Computer should take
less often.
- I'm seriously thinking about translating the doc in french!
Release 1.20 - Many things have been improved. Some bugs removed. The evaluation
method has changed another time. I've added a presentation, and
now, lost or gained points are displayed when a game ends. This
game is really getting better, thought I haven't received any
registration yet. Maybe, in the future....
Release 1.21 - The score icon isn't useless any longer! Scores are displayed
when using this icon. Note that changing players initialize scores.
- Nobody sent registration yet. I am wandering if I correctly
wrote my name!
Release 1.22 - The little one lead to the end is now counted. Some runtime
errors resulting in a player mutation are removed! Though I've
seen my game in many places, still no registrations.
LAST NEWS! I'VE GOT ONE!
Release 1.23 - It's now possible to save a game. It allows you to save players
caracteristics and scores. By the way, what would you think of a
windows Release?
Release 1.24 - A bug in savegames has been fixed. But savegames are not
compatibles with 1.23's.
- The Excuse bug, which hanged the pc has been removed.
- Excuse and little one are now played in a more efficient way.
- You can play the called king at the first exchange.
Release 1.25 - Added SoundBlaster music. (if you don't like it, you can copy
another CMF file on ROOTBEER.CMF)
- I've slowed the game!!! in order to see who plays.
Release 2.00 - TAROT 2000 is more complete now! I don't see many changes to
do now. But if you do, write me!
- There are now an unregistered and a registered version. It is
fair that registered users get more than unregistered ones!
- It is now possible to make a 'Garde Sans' and a 'Garde Contre'
(in registered version)
- The little one leaded to the end is now counted as the FFT
rules tell.
- More important, I have to apologize for a BIG error in
TAROT 2000. I was showing the 'chien' after and not before it
was made!!! That's why many of you said that the computer allways
made a 'Coupe franche' (I gotta find the english terms!) at the
color which was in the 'chien'!
- Computer play has been improved again.
Release 2.01 - I released TAROT 2000 2.00 a little too fast, and forget a
little bug which is corrected now. I'll continue to write new
releases if you continue to report me bugs and write me ideas to
improve TAROT 2000.
- Little improvements in computer play.
Special thanks go 2:
- Philippe Bouyer for testing, and 4 his non-constructive critics.
- Pascal Pommier, French Kiss BBS's sysop, for his constructive critics.
- Frederic Grillo, for his interesting remarks and for sending me the
official rules of the FFT (Fédération Française de Tarot)
- Arnaud De Bonald, The Man Machine's sysop for sending this game to BBS.
- Emmanuel Bataille and Olivier Ligneul for their interesting ideas and
bugs reports.
- Robert Cabiran for SB infos.
- Frederic Peyronnin, for uploading TAROT 2000 on BBS.
- Gael Chardon for trying to crack it!
